The Waskimo events are going to look a lot different this year. We didn't want to let another year pass without some type of winter wonder fun, and we present "Wagon Rides in the Park!"
You must purchase a ticket for a specific time and arrive before your scheduled loading time. The loading will take place off the front steps of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. The ride will take you in front of the lake on a 15-minute loop back to the front of the Legislative Building.
Each ride will have the following benefits and restrictions based on our work with Public Health, Saskatchewan Covid Business Response Team, and the Capital Commission:
-
Remain in your vehicle when you arrive. Tune your radio to FM 103.3 and we will announce over the radio when your private ride is ready.
-
In between rides we have partnered with Puroclean to sanitize the wagons and stagecoach after every family.
-
Please come prepared for the weather. Dress in layers, warm boots, mitts and toques, even a blanket doesn't hurt.
-
Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Please be patient as delays could occur based on a number of factors (horses need care, cleaning required, loading and unloading of families, traffic where the rides are occurring, etc.). Delays will be announced over the FM station 103.3.
-
During loading and loading, maintain six feet of distance between any other family. Only one family is allowed per ride but we have two wagons and one stagecoach that will be running all day.
-
We will scan you into the event (also helps with any potential tracing required), and you do not need to print your ticket. We can look you up by name or scan the bar code off of your phone. You must check-in before entering the check-in area.
-
After your ride, we encourage your family to leave the area to allow proper distancing with families.
The goal is to celebrate our wonderful winter and create a safe event for families to enjoy. We are a non-profit corporation and look to break-even on event costs, the ticket prices reflect this strategy. Thank you for the support, donations are accepted, and we look forward to a more robust celebration in 2022!
